Impulse 1.0 is now available!
After five years of development and a lot of discarded first drafts, Impulse has been released.
We first spoke about Impulse back in february, with the announcement of our open beta program, and after a lot of improvements in every facet of our systems, we’re proud to finally make it available.
What is Impulse?
Impulse is not an audio plugin, rather it is a standalone piece of software that creates high-quality impulse responses for use in external tools (mainly different convolution reverbs). It can also do real-time acoustic simulation of virtual spaces.
We chose to create this as a standalone piece of software rather than a plugin as we wanted to add a lot of features that audio plugins wouldn’t be able to fully take advantage of, and we plan on adding even more in the future.
The concept behind Impulse is that you take 3D geometry (a lot of different formats are supported) and then you can render acoustic information off of that geometry.
If you want to start using Impulse but don’t have any 3D geometry on hand, that’s okay, because there are a number of demo projects made available. You can read about how to work with the basic functionality of Impulse on our new documentation site, specifically the Getting Started With Impulse guide.
We’ll have some tutorial videos out soon.
Pricing Plans
While our audio plugins are designed with everyone in mind, Impulse is designed for audio professionals.
The difference in the visual simplicity of our plugins versus the depth of Impulse’s controls makes this evident.
Impulse is available to be licensed either perpetually (a lifetime license), yearly, or monthly. We know that a lot of people are against subscription models, but understand that this pricing system is in-place for end-user flexibility, and subscription-based pricing won’t ever be coming to our plugins, just Impulse.
Support
Impulse is our largest program by far, and there are bound to be some bugs that our testers didn’t find. If you run into any problems, feel free to let us know at support@lese.io, or contact us through the Discord server.
