Now Available: Codec 2.0 – Modern Degradation Revamped

Codec is back

Codec is our most popular plugin by far, and it’s no question why; Our approach to sound degradation using an audio compression standard has never been done prior to Codec.

After almost 3 years of Codec being available, and hundreds of thousands of downloads later, we’ve updated Codec to Version 2!

We’ve already put out a short video showing what’s new:

… and we’ve also already made a longer video overviewing all of the features that Codec now has, including the old ones:

Codec 2: Codec harder

These are the new features that Codec has had introduced:

  • Packet Disorder: Instead of packets just being fed into the internal decoder in their usual order, you can now increase the “disorder” control to shuffle the packets around, giving a much more disjointed sound.

  • Noise: You can now add noise to the signal prior to feeding audio into the encoder, this makes the signal “messier” and can add even more artifacts where usually there would have been none. The noise can also be colored differently, to take up different sections of the frequency spectrum.

  • Crunch: Crunch can now be adjusted by hovering over the audio visualizer. You can also change the shape of the filter that is used during the crunch process.

Codec can still be found for free here. Just provide your email and we’ll send you a copy of Codec, along with installers for our other free plugin Sweep.

The manual for Codec can be found at docs.lese.io.
